This Day Last Year I released my first EP entitled "A Bite of My Heart".
While I'm so happy that people enjoyed the project, I was so encouraged. I always dreamed about putting out a project or an EP, but I wasn't sure that I was good enough to actually accomplish that goal.
When I expressed my dreams to my Husband, Jamiel, challenged me to create a music project using only one instrument, My Voice.
Admittedly, at first I didn't think it would be a good idea. Who would want to hear my voice only? I thought I needed instrumentation and everything else that people use to put out a project.
But I started anyway and found out how much fun putting the project together was. I was stretching and challenging myself and my vocal ability.
I had to pay super close attention to harmonies and make sure things blended well and that I was still able to get the message of the song across.
Yall. It was hard. Lol. But at the end of it all, I am so HAPPY I listened to @jamcalpin_ and took on his Challenge.
And even if a lot of people didn't like it, I LOVED it.
I was SO PROUD of that project. This project, this experience, still means so much to me.
At first I thought I was at some sort of disadvantage, but the constraints and restrictions actually caused me to be more creative.
